Rostock-Ritz Desert Lodge Solitaire Reviews
Peace and tranquility in the Namibian desert Feb 25, 2008
This is yet another one of these beautiful remote Namibian lodges. This one is situated along the border of the Namib-Naukluft Park, between Swakopmund and Sesriem (Sossusvlei).
You can't really miss the intersection where you need to turn off the main dirt road (C14) to reach the lodge. They have a huge sign with their initials! Just follow that dirt track for about 7 kilometers and you will find yourself in one of the most peaceful places you could dream of, along the side of a hill with magnificent views on the desert.
What strikes as you arrive is the shape of the bungalows which look a bit like Mongolian yurts! The main building and restaurant also have this same style and the inside resembles a cave.
It is an ideal place to relax, do a bit of hiking along the multiple walking trails and enjoy the desert wildlife. The lodge even has a small pool.
They have a very nice restaurant with an A-la-carte menu. The food was very good. I actually stayed there just for lunch on my way from Sesriem to Swakop. It is a perfect place for a break along this long itinerary. So in fact I did not stay in the hotel but thought I would still put this lodge on the TB map and hopefully other visitors will add their comments on the rooms. You can find more information on the lodge's web site indicated above.
