For those that didn't think Denmark wasn't rich and royal enough.... Jul 12, 2016
Rosenborg Castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV, in the early 17th century.

It's fairly easy to find, and when lost, just follow the never-ending trail of tourist buses. I wasn't really thrilled at the incredibly long queues. For a tourist attraction that attracts so many people, it would be nice if they introduced more desks at the information centre. The brochure provided though was really nice and informative though.

That said though, I thoroughly enjoyed everything on offer here - the grandeur is all too obvious to see. I loved the room with the Italian marble and the brilliant fresco ceilings. This is where I also learnt about one of the Kings called the "father in law of Europe"! Haha!

Among the main attractions is the Knights’ Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. Tapestries on the walls commemorate battles between Denmark and Sweden. Rosenborg also houses an exquisite collection of Flora Danica and one of the world’s finest Venetian glass collections, both set in tower chambers.

At the basement is Denmark's crown jewels (the crowns are kept in special vaults and are embellished with table-cut stones, enamel and gold ornamentation). I also liked the a gold chessboard and players (from Africa) which was brilliant.

Only downside: avoid eating at the cafe as it's definitely over priced.

Rosenborg Castle Mar 24, 2015
Another beautiful castle in the middle of Copenhagen city centre.

Rosenborg Castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV, in the early 17th century. Currently the castle house the many beautiful Crown Jewels. You can read the description of the castle from the website.

Anyway, I love the building and the antique furniture inside and wish I was the Queen so I can try those tiara on display.

It is worth it. I do not remember the entrance fee but it was not that expensive. The park is huge and you can enter the park freely if you do not want to enter the castle.

The café outside the castle is nice to relax after a walk.

You can walk toward the castle directly from Nyhavn (which is straight walk – 5 block away) or take metro Nørreport and when go up the stairs from the metro station – walk toward the garden and the castle is on the right side.
