Roosevelt Hotel New York

I am currently searching for a NYC hotel to accommodate my out of town wedding guests in early 2010 and came across the Roosevelt Hotel. Contacted the events planner Rose Garafolo - who right from the beginning seemed a bit disorganized and frazzled. After several correspondences via email - i had scheduled an appt. with Rose to view a room on a Sunday. When I went to the front desk - I was informed by Alfredo (an extremely rude employee - who seems to get frustrated very easily when asked a question) that there were no rooms. Instead of trying to ease the situation - Alfredo seemed to perpetuate it - given it was Rose's miscommunication. To make a long story short - I left the hotel feeling disrespected and completely turned off by the way the staff treats their guest and potential clients. after reading other reviews on this site - im not the only one thats had a bad experience at this so called hotel.

staff Problems with Roosevelt Hotel in New York City:
At 2:20 am the front desk calls & says they had a complaint that our Tv was too loud. I told the woman that they were mistaken because our Tv was not on and we had been asleep for hours. as my sis and I are 62 & 64 yrs. old.
She then said I am warning you that if this happens again security will be called to knock on your door. I explained again that she was mistaken but she was very rude and continued to threaten me. I went down to the lobby and she was the only one there and I asked for the mananger and a man came to me with a phone in his hand.
I made a complaint with the night mananger and then again with the day manager the next day.
I was told that they would get back to me but no one ever did. We were not able to go back to sleep that night and becuause we were so tired we missed the Broadway Show that we had paid for.

We were there for several more days and no one ever contacted us. When we left on 3/01 we both filled out a comment card and explained the incident.
We have not heard anything from them at allfrom the Hotel.
They woke us us in the middle of the night for something we did not do, then threatened us.We were awake the rest of the night.

It was a terrible and costly experiance.

The room was fine but the "view" they said we had the the inside lower roof of the hotel with the airconditioners and the others wall of the hotel. The tv was good..

Location, Location, Location.
In the heart of Midtown. Close to Grand Central Station, Time Square, Broadway, Rockefella Center, Central Park...
The Door Man is very friendly and helpful. He really helped us out with transportation when we needed it quickly. Plus helped us with storeing our luggage when our room wasn't ready, so we could start sightseeing.
Check for special rate on several of the travel/hotel site and also their website( http://www.theroosevelthotel.com ) and see what is possible.
The lobby is impressive. The standard rooms are nice and roomy for NYC.
This hotel was the location for several movies like Maid in Manhattan.

Great location, beautiful lobby, but the staff leave alot to be desired. During our stay we had no hot water most mornings, half of the lifts weren't working (so we had to walk up and down 9 floors) and when we complained the staff didn't seem to be bothered that we were paying customers. It's only saving grace was it's location, 10 minute walk to Times Square, 2 minutes through a passageway to GCT and some great bars and restaurants nearby.

Great hotel! Rooms are small but cosy decorated. Right around the corner from Grand Central Terminal, 5th avenue shopping and Rockefellar Center. It's not the cheapest but great location!
