Rome on a scooter! Dec 14, 2011
While visiting Rome in a hot summer in july, I met a local there that had a scooter.

Walking around the city is really boring when it's hot. The city is full of dust in the air and all you will be thinking is when you will reach a nice and refreshing swimming pool! I am not the average type of tourist that just walk around with a map full of basic sighseeings to be visited. Trust me, the best places are not on these guides.

So I suggest you to meet a local that can show you around and if this person does not have a scooter, rent one. It is cheap and really handy. You can stop anywhere and see everything instead of walking under the melting sun.

I drove through so cute alleys and could see how people there actually live. When I was tired, I just parked the scooter to grab an ice coffee and enjoy it by the shadows.
An alley in Rome.
