Romanes & Paterson Edinburgh Reviews
Shopping, Clothing, Kilts, Accessories and Café Oct 13, 2011
This store has been on Princes Street since 1878. Here you can find souvenirs, accessories, tartans, kilts and knitwear. They also sell nice postcards and books. The staff in the shop are dressed in traditional Scottish clothing and they were all nice and friendly.
On the second floor is a nice café and on the menu list they have traditional Scottish dishes like Haggis neeps and tatties. The Scottish national dish, Haggis, is the chopped heart, liver and lungs of a sheep cooked with oatmeal and onions inside its stomach bag. With Haggis you always get tatties (mashed potatoes). You can also order a vegetarian version of Haggis.
Haggis was actually good! The waiter recommended us tea as beverage with this food.
This is the only café that offers tableservice overlooking Princes Street.
From the window in the café is a nice view up to the Castle.
