Rolde is a village in the provence 'Drenthe', Netherlands. It has about 4300 inhabitants. In 2007, Rolde was 820 years old. The oldest building of Rolde is the gothic church from the 14th century. Rolde has two hunebeds, which are old stonegraves from 3200 BC. In Drenthe are 54 hunebeds, and in German and Denmark there are thousends.Like many places in the Netherlands, Rolde has a old mill which is located in the center of the village. Also in the center of Rolde is a big green field, where in former times big trade/markets are held. Nowadays there are a few events on the big field, like an american market, an horse market and a fair. The biggest holiday resort of the north of the Netherlands is located in Rolde; 'Het hof van Saksen'. Because of it's history and old buildings and green surroundings, Rolde is a beloved village for people to go on holiday. Besides, when the moto GP of Assen is held, many motorcyclists find their way to Rolde, because Assen is full and Rolde is 6 kilometres away.
