Chic but friendly Jul 05, 2011
I stayed there with 3 friends in August 2010. The hotel staff were really friendly and competent and the entire place was spotless. One of my friends is a germaphobe who researches the heck out of everywhere (and we stay wherever she recommends). She recommended this place over a lot of other more well-known places (and more expensive) places. The staff were really good about recommending less expensive but great places to eat (Guy and Gallardo a block or two to the east) and they also got us into some nice restaurants for dinner (Primehouse was awesome).

So, overall, it's a boutique hotel (ie small rooms), free wifi, good service, perfect location. I'd highly recommend it and we're staying there again in a few days!

Pleasant boutique hotel in new york Jan 11, 2010
I stayed at the Hotel Roger Williams in October of 2009. The place has a trendy, hip vibe to it, but is typical of a boutique hotel in that it's on the smaller side, and being in Manhattan, not cheap. All the staff was very professional, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a personalized welcome note and gift upon arrival to my room (beer and nuts). The lady was actually just setting it up when I checked into the room, and greeted me by my name days later when she saw me again (most impressed).

The room is small. The bed takes up the majority of it, and the color scheme is meant to be trendy I think. The bed was comfy. The bathroom is pretty standard, and separated from the room by an opaque glass sliding door. You're provided a nice bathrobe should you choose to indulge.

There's free wifi internet, as well as two computers near the front desk. You can use these to surf the web and print out docs such as boarding passes, free of charge.

There's a lounge/bar on the second floor. Somewhat strange is the fitness room on that same floor, toward the back. I actually had to ask someone where it was because it wasn't clear. It's set back to where you think the kitchen would be. There are some free weights and a few machines in the room, which size-wise, was probably a little bigger than my hotel room (including the bathroom).

There are two elevators which worked fine, though sometimes there was a wait. You need your room key card to operate them. There are also stairs if you are of the more impatient type.

The location is nice, close to many things including the empire state building and subway stops.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The room may be a bit small for some and you may be thrown off a bit by the "hip" look of it, but I would stay there again.
There it is - the entire room...we…
welcome treats!
