Rogaland is on the west coast of Norway. It is a county of great variety, almost a "norway in a nut-shell". You can easy get around by car, and there are good areas for biking and trekking.
The county is almost divided by a huge fjord, into north and south. There are several rocky islands, with alot of sheep, old wooden villages not so well preserved, and an old convent. The north has some nice, small, white, wooden fishermens villages, and a rough coastline of rock. Haugesund is the largest city in the north The south has Stavanger as the biggest city, and Sandnes just outside of this. Alot of oil-realted buisnesses have bases here, so nightlife, culture, entertainment and dining is of international standard, and there is a lot on offer. The coastline in the south has beautifull sandy beaches with dunes, mostly unspoilt. Allthough weather is rarely for sunbathing, you can throw yourself in the waves most summer, and go trekking for miles. Old lighthouses and ww2 sites along coast. Kiting and surfing in some areas. This part is mostly flat farmland and has a scenic route good for biking. Inland are deep and narrow fjords, with the pulpit rock and kjerag as the most popular mountain treks. Skiing in winter.

Just a few pictures of my friends and the crowds out and about on National day.
We were so lucky with the weather in Stavanger. The sun shone which made it an even more special day.

Why loose change?. Well, I always have coins lying around the house and little pots of old holiday money that cant be changed at the bank. I thought that people would be more willing to give us this rather...
