Rockhampton, or Rocky as the locals call it, is a city that was established in 1858. The current population is approximately 69.000. It is one of the largest cities between Brisbane and Cairns, located about 630 kilometers north of Brisbane and about 42 kilometers inland.
The city is seperated in two parts by the Fitzroy River which was originally used for shipping supplies to the city. The Fitzroy River Barrage now acts as an important water supply to the city. There are some nice old buildings left in the city, the oldest being the Supreme Court House which was built in 1888. Rockhampton has it's own airport for internal flights in Australia. Once a year divisions of the Singapore army fly into Rockhampton (the runway s long enough for larger planes) for their training in Shoalwater Bay.

On Sunday the 2nd of October we moved into the Riverside Caravan Park after having cleaned up the house from our farewell party and moving some furniture and other things we had sold. We had a few problems with this: the fridge got damaged getting it onto the ute we were using, and things always take longer than you think! Thanks to all the people who helped take down the marquee, and to Gavin and Belinda for the use of them and their ute, we really appreciate it!

Cairns, Australia -› whitsundays, Australia -› ...
Today we headed to Rockhampton, apparently it is the "Mullet Capital"
of Australia and it was obvious why. Tonight we came "face to
fang" with huge crocodiles at Koorana Crocodile Farm for dinner.
We saw the breeding pens and watched them get fed. Apparently
this croc farm was the one that some season of MTV's Road Rules worked
on.
