Affordable fun - hip live music and dancing on H Street Aug 13, 2010
First of all, the Rock and Roll Hotel is NOT a hotel. Confusion aside, here's what it is: one of the best dives in the city! Downstairs regularly features live music from local bands to international touring acts. Cover charges vary. Upstairs is generally free, and features a large bar. Upstairs is where one can find things like Drunken Spelling Bee (an adult spelling bee in which the winner is awarded a significant complementary bar tab), as well as DJs spinning anything from 80's dance music, hair metal, modern indie and alternative rock to techno.

Alcohol is relatively cheap here. The favorite is the $3 pint can of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

In addition, the burgers here are actually quite excellent for a dive bar. They can be ordered from the downstairs bar or upstairs bar.

For a listing of what is going on both upstairs and downstairs, check out their website!
