This place is south of Mammoth Lakes, CA and north of Bishop, CA along I-395. At a little restaurant called Tom's Place (7,000+ft), you turn onto a wiggly road UP to Rock Creek. It's maybe 10 miles and all along the way there are campsites off the road to car camp, where they would hike Rock Creek Canyon. It is also called "Little Lakes Valley." Once you get to Mosquito flat trailhead at the end of the road you park your car and start out for an amazing hike. They do allow overnights, with no charge. There aren't many people and the views are absolutely amazing. I have some pictures, but you can google it to find some. It is a green valley that is fairly small with many cool lakes surrounded by (13,000+feet)snow capped mountains and spires. You can also climb into the mountains which is a strenuous hike but the views are always changing. Easily accessible in the summer months only, since the road is covered with feet of snow in the winter. The elevation in the valley is in the 10,000s. GO THERE!!
