Most Memorable Travel Experience
We were travelling up through the english countryside and on into Scotland. We stopped in a Chester, England for the night to stay.
It was summertime and a heat wave in England so we spent most of the day and evening trying to cool off outside. We were walking alongside a meadow and there were flowers about 10feet from where I was walking that I really wanted to pick. The grass was real high so I just started pushing through. I felt like I had scratched myself on thorns and it started to hurt so I turned back. Within minutes, my leg was swelling and stinging so badly. I hopped back to the hotel where the concierge laughed when I pointed out my problem. Apparently, I walked into "stinging nettles". When I asked if they had cream to help the pain, they just laughed again. To my dismay, the only solution to the stinging pain is from another aloe-like plant that grows right beside the nettle plant.
I wasn't going back for it. 24 hours later, the swelling and pain were almost gone...but I learned my lesson about the nettle plant.
Profile
Born in Boston, MA and moved to PA some years ago. Currently, I reside in Baltimore, MD. I'm currently working to finance my traveling addiction - all the while studying for my Masters Degree in National Security Studies. So, as you can imagine, I don't have near enough time to travel. I caught the travel bug back in '99 when I took my first trip to England/Scotland. College made me poor and unable to do too much travelling but I still managed to see a few places. I'd very much like to get into a profession that allowed me to live and work abroad so I can continue to see all the beautiful places in the world.
