Peak District, Hiking country May 01, 2011
I visited the Peak District this Bank Holiday Monday for the first time. Being an inexperienced hiker, I opted for a nice 'easy' pathway....or so I thought, the route I chose was 'Trig Point' starting from 'Roaches Gate'. I barely got half way through it before ‘wussing’ out though. After slowly and carefully negotiating a set of very steep steps up the side of a quarry (not looking at all like my gran!) I felt quite light-headed and had to head back to the Roaches tea rooms for resuscitation! Roaches tea rooms are about 20 metres back down the road from Roaches Gate.

There are many different walks to choose from and you can make them as hard or as easy as you like. Whether you are a novice or more experienced walker, there is plenty to enjoy, even if you just make the most of the beautiful scenery.
