The Riviera Hotel and Casino Nov 02, 2007
The Riviera Hotel and Casino is certainly a great place to stay ... and there is so much available to you, in the way of: shops, hair salons, souvenirs, etc.
One retail staff member (who works in a lugguage shop) was so genuine and we loved talking to him daily, though he probably would of preferred we buy one or two of the suitcases that he had on SALE ... Everything you need is within the walls of this hotel ... you don't even have to walk the famous Las Vegas Strip ... though of course I know you'd love to walk the strip as I did ... Though it's an older hotel, I found it to be a very nice place to stay at ... Their breakfast buffet was awesome ... and happily my breakfasts were paid for (business trip/vacation-for Dan>>I tagged along)... There's nothing like the Riviera; I recommend it ... only downfall, be sure to bring a compass, many times I forgotten how to return to my room ... many different hallways, 'where am I', I'd ask myself ... do I take hallway 1, 2, or 3 :) Part of the Las Vegas, Nevada travel blog |

Best Deal on the Las Vegas Strip Jan 25, 2009
This has to be one of the best kept secrets on The Strip, considering this is one of the original Strip hotels. The Riviera's hotel rooms have been remodeled with new carpet, new beds and the bathrooms are updated (to a degree). In addition to this being an overall great place to stay, it is very convenient Strip location for the North end of the Strip (Including Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Sahara, Stratosphere, Trump, Fashion Show Mall, Peppermill and The World's Largest Souvenir Shop all in easy walking distance). The staff is excellent and very hospitable. But the beauty of the Riviera, is the value! It is lower priced that most Strip casino resorts and they usually have some great special offers. On my stay I had a king bed room, 2 free tickets to their Show Ice, 2 free buffets and a gas rebate program all for $39 a night!! Where as the value of one show ticket was more than one night's rate and Ice is a very exciting show to see to boot! (http://www.travbuddy.com/Ice-The-Show-at-The-Riviera-in-Las-Vegas-v302521)
If you have a lot of money to spend, then by all means go to one of the mega resorts, but the Riviera has all any Vegas traveler really needs - great beds, great shows, great food, great service, and huge casino to take your money as easily as any other casino. The only downsides were the air conditioning is not thermostat controlled and the bath tub is not as nice as the rest of the remodel. But neither of these reasons subtracted from me giving and excellent review. In addition to the show Ice - Direct from Russia; Riviera also has La Cage, Crazy Girls, Riviera Comedy Club and several other shows. I can only recommend other Strip hotels over the Riviera if you have more money than sense! hehe Well actually the others strip hotels & Resorts are very nice too, but but the value of Riviera trumps them!!
We had already used the room som…

Conventional Convention Center in 2,000-room Hotel in Las Vegas Jan 20, 2003
I've stayed twice at the Riviera Hotel & Casino for business travel. Since we were having technology-related meetings and display of contractor wares, we had our meetings in the huge Riviera Convention Center which is inside the Riviera Hotel & Casino. The rooms only go up a few floors, so the view is not all that great of Las Vegas, but it is located right on The Strip, across from other famous landmark hotels and casinos. It is also located near the Las Vegas Hilton, which houses the Star Trek Experience--for a diehard Trekkie it was fantastic and was my personal goal to see on my second trip to Las Vegas.
The rooms and beds were fine, but the bathrooms were a bit rusty and musty. I'm not sure if it is a rule that all hotels on the Strip in Vegas need to have a sign like this but the Riviera has a sign that reads something like: "For the safety of our employees, do not dispose of used needles in the trash. Please inform the front desk to obtain a needle container." I understand there is a high rate of drug usage in Las Vegas, but I thought a quality hotel would not have to place this type of sign in all the rooms. It was a little disconcerting for me. There is a gift shop, buffet, restaurant, and casino with free drinks like all the other casinos on The Strip. Be careful of the nearby shady food establishments since Jenny got ill from the chicken--no matter how good the "special" looks. Riviera Hotel & Casino is a good place for a convention and near to the airport, less than 15 minutes away. If I were staying in Vegas for vacation, I'd only stay here if the bigger hotels were not available. The Riviera Hotel & Casino is fine but I think I'd try another place to compare on my own. The Riviera has some historical significance regarding the original "Rat Pack" but that did not beat out other hotels like the Venician, Circus-Circus or the Parisian for overall impressiveness. Free so it was worth it but I would not pay for this place. Aug 11, 2008
We were able to stay in one of the renovated rooms so the room was very nice; flat screen TV, comfortable bed, decent sized room. I received this room for free because I sat trough a time share presentation so anything free is good. I would not go back here because the hotel was empty and most of the restaurants were closed because the hotel was not full enough. Also when I went down stairs to gamble there might have been 10 other people in the casino. I walked across the street to Circus Circus and they were packed. Also the pool is pitiful.
