Ok stay at an ok price Apr 21, 2011
You can stay at the Riviera on weekdays for about 30-35$. And it is worth it.

Signing up for a players card, you can get a free show (comedy or crazy girls topless show). Your not even forced to stay there to take profit of that deal. You also can get 45$ of chips at the circus-circus for 30$ signing up for a card. And they showers you with coupons. Ask for those cards everywhere, they are worth it.

And if your after good deals on shows, here's one more. There are free tickets for comedy and magic show of nathan burton at the flamingo. You can find them in the VEGAS.com free magazines that are almost everywhere. And to really have it for free, you must book at least 5 days in advance at flamingo box office. Otherwise it's gonna be 10$. Which is still a good deal, I really liked the show.

And if you saw the nathan burton show, it allows you to have the Frank Marino show for 15$ instead of 60$. A guy that impersonate famous womens and it is pretty impressive.

Now back to the Riviera. The buffet is good for the price. And if you play poker, you receive 1$ an hour in resto COMPS, so it makes the buffet even cheaper.

My room was great, but it may be related to my poker player stay.

I had a free stay for playing 6h of poker a day. And they did'nt even validate my play so I could just as well have had a room for free on 2 weekdays just pretendind I was going to play. The secret is to book by phone with the Riviera, asking for a free stay for poker players. You ask for a player card by phone. And when you check-in, you go in the VIP lane and you say you have a complimentary stay there. You dont talk about the promotion, just say you have a free stay there. And same thing when you leave. Worst that could happend is being charge 35$ a day for those 2 days. Those days have to be beetween sunday and thurday. good luck.

Affordable, neat and tidy...bang for your buck Sep 15, 2010
I stayed here to attend a telecommunications convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center for 4 days. I booked at the last minute and was able to get this hotel and the airfare from Priceline for a good deal. The hotel was nicer than I thought it would be for the price I paid and it was the home of the "Crazy Girls". Although, I didnt spend my time there the way average Las Vegas goers would have, I did enjoy my stay. The room was very neat and clean with no weird smell (I have issues with stagnant smells in hotel rooms) and of course I always came back to a clean room after noon every day. The casino was packed with people day in and day out but there were few "tables" so it was an older crowd. It was in walking distance to fancier hotels like the Wynn and Encore, which I frequented for good meals and nightlife and didnt have to worry about transportation. But when I did need transportation, there were shuttle buses and cabs all day and night long. My only problem with this hotel was that they didnt accomodate you with free toothpaste or toothbrushes, just soap. Overall decent experience, nothing bad but nothing too exciting either. Its a good cheap place to stay if you are on a super budget or if you book last minute.

Nice to read an honest review. The Riviera is one of the last older hotels in the Strip and although it has gone through some updating it doesn't hold a candle to Wynn and surrounding mega resorts.

affordable and nice yet far from everything Jan 01, 2010
Stayed here twice (they actually were shooting scenes for Ocean's 13 when I stayed) and overall I can say it is a nice hotel, the room is comfortable and the service is good. the only negative here are the location at the north end of the strip.

Another good thing is that since it is far from the middle of the strip, they offer a lot of coupons for the buffet and for gambling. they also have (or used to have) a deal at the buffet for all you can eat NY Strip steaks for $7.77 from 10pm to 6am.

Best Deal on the Las Vegas Strip Jan 25, 2009
This has to be one of the best kept secrets on The Strip, considering this is one of the original Strip hotels. The Riviera's hotel rooms have been remodeled with new carpet, new beds and the bathrooms are updated (to a degree). In addition to this being an overall great place to stay, it is very convenient Strip location for the North end of the Strip (Including Wynn, Encore, Venetian, Sahara, Stratosphere, Trump, Fashion Show Mall, Peppermill and The World's Largest Souvenir Shop all in easy walking distance). The staff is excellent and very hospitable. But the beauty of the Riviera, is the value! It is lower priced that most Strip casino resorts and they usually have some great special offers. On my stay I had a king bed room, 2 free tickets to their Show Ice, 2 free buffets and a gas rebate program all for $39 a night!! Where as the value of one show ticket was more than one night's rate and Ice is a very exciting show to see to boot! (http://www.travbuddy.com/Ice-The-Show-at-The-Riviera-in-Las-Vegas-v302521)

If you have a lot of money to spend, then by all means go to one of the mega resorts, but the Riviera has all any Vegas traveler really needs - great beds, great shows, great food, great service, and huge casino to take your money as easily as any other casino.

The only downsides were the air conditioning is not thermostat controlled and the bath tub is not as nice as the rest of the remodel. But neither of these reasons subtracted from me giving and excellent review.

In addition to the show Ice - Direct from Russia; Riviera also has La Cage, Crazy Girls, Riviera Comedy Club and several other shows.

I can only recommend other Strip hotels over the Riviera if you have more money than sense! hehe Well actually the others strip hotels & Resorts are very nice too, but but the value of Riviera trumps them!!

The Riviera Hotel and Casino Nov 02, 2007
The Riviera Hotel and Casino is certainly a great place to stay ... and there is so much available to you, in the way of: shops, hair salons, souvenirs, etc.

One retail staff member (who works in a luggage shop) was so genuine and we loved talking to him daily, though he probably would of preferred we buy one or two of the suitcases that he had on SALE ...

Everything you need is within the walls of this hotel ... you don't even have to walk the famous Las Vegas Strip ... though of course I know you'd love to walk the strip as I did ...

Though it's an older hotel, I found it to be a very nice place to stay at ... Their breakfast buffet was awesome ... and happily my breakfasts were paid for (business trip/vacation-for Dan~~I tagged along)...

There's nothing like the Riviera; I recommend it ... only downfall, be sure to bring a compass; many times I forgotten how to return to my room ... there are many different hallways, "where am I", I'd ask myself ... do I take hallway 1, 2, or 3 :) ENJOY
What an entrance way ... 'honey, I…

Conventional Convention Center in 2,000-room Hotel in Las Vegas Jan 20, 2003
I've stayed twice at the Riviera Hotel & Casino for business travel. Since we were having technology-related meetings and display of contractor wares, we had our meetings in the huge Riviera Convention Center which is inside the Riviera Hotel & Casino. The rooms only go up a few floors, so the view is not all that great of Las Vegas, but it is located right on The Strip, across from other famous landmark hotels and casinos. It is also located near the Las Vegas Hilton, which houses the Star Trek Experience--for a diehard Trekkie it was fantastic and was my personal goal to see on my second trip to Las Vegas.

The rooms and beds were fine, but the bathrooms were a bit rusty and musty. I'm not sure if it is a rule that all hotels on the Strip in Vegas need to have a sign like this but the Riviera has a sign that reads something like:

"For the safety of our employees, do not dispose of used needles in the trash. Please inform the front desk to obtain a needle container."

I understand there is a high rate of drug usage in Las Vegas, but I thought a quality hotel would not have to place this type of sign in all the rooms. It was a little disconcerting for me.

There is a gift shop, buffet, restaurant, and casino with free drinks like all the other casinos on The Strip. Be careful of the nearby shady food establishments since Jenny got ill from the chicken--no matter how good the "special" looks.

Riviera Hotel & Casino is a good place for a convention and near to the airport, less than 15 minutes away. If I were staying in Vegas for vacation, I'd only stay here if the bigger hotels were not available. The Riviera Hotel & Casino is fine but I think I'd try another place to compare on my own. The Riviera has some historical significance regarding the original "Rat Pack" but that did not beat out other hotels like the Venician, Circus-Circus or the Parisian for overall impressiveness.
