Ristorante Villa Maria Cannobio Reviews
Ristorante Villa Maria Jul 09, 2010
This restaurant is inside old private house, which has lots of seating outside and two outside balconies with fantastic views. I would recommend that you book in advance so that you can sit on one of the balconies as the seating is more spacious and the view is better. The food is fantastic, the menu is only in Italian and German but some of the waiters do speak English, although our waiter did not but fortunately my uncle can speak some Italian. I ordered Tortellini filled with veal and ricotta with a sage and butter sauce, which was perfectly cooked. The service was brilliant, it was easy to get one of the waiters attention even though the restaurant was absolutely packed and again they went out of their way to help.
Compared to other restaurants in Cannobio it is more expensive than most and is quite an old-fashioned Italian restaurant, they only recently, within the last couple of years, started serving pizza as typically pizza was seen as “peasants” food. The restaurant is slowly changing to accommodate the requirements of a lot tourists, but it still maintains a lot of its old-style.
