Ristorante Edelweiss Erice Reviews
Restaurant in the main square of Erice Jan 15, 2016
The Edelweiss Restaurant is in the center of Erice at Umberto Square. It’s a two story establishment with a downstairs area serving as a bar & cafe. A large open area dining room in located in the upstairs area, and affords some nice views of Umberto Square in the front facing windows. This place has been owned and run by a fellow named Mario for a long time. He even helped with a dinner for Pope John Paul II when he visited Erice in 1993, though the dinner was not held at this restaurant, but at a more historic setting in Erice, probably one of the former monasteries (appropriate for a Pope).
I have had meals here many times over the years and the food is generally good, but only on occasion have I had something not quite to my liking. Usually it’s a meat dish like beef or veal, but such things I don’t care for in Italy overall because the meat quality is not good to begin with. The swordfish and tuna are some of my favorites, and seafood is done well here. They have some good soups when available too.
