Ristorante Caruso Reykjavik Reviews
Nice and cozy Oct 10, 2010
Ristorante Caruso is a Mediterranean restaurant set in a charming old building and with its lovely décor creates a romantic and cozy latin atmosphere. The restaurant is located right in the centre of town on the main shopping street Laugavegur.
The restaurant is on three floors and is suitable for individuals as well as bigger groups. On the ground floor and the first floor there are small cozy dining rooms as well as a charming sitting room (the Brandy room), which reminded me of great grandma. On the third floor there is a larger room, which can seat bigger groups.
The service was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The staff contributed greatly to the nice and warm atmosphere.
The menu is varied and consists of both Mediterranean and Icelandic specialities. These are dishes like fresh fish, Icelandic lamb, pasta and pizza. Mains are $18-$25. Harriet and I had the Risotto with garlic marinated jumbo shrimps, Mark had the lobster soup and Hrafn the calzone. We were all happy with our choices.
There are a lot of nice restaurants and diners in Reykjavik, but Ristorante Caruso was something special. The food was nice and the ambiance warm and friendly. I will definitely eat there again and I can highly recommend this restaurant. If you are going in the weekend make a reservation, the place is very busy!
