Rishiri Greenhill Youth Hostel is on the island of Rishiri in Hokkaido. The rooms are traditional tatami rooms with futons. There is a laundry room, a small cafeteria, and two Japanese style bathrooms. They do offer breakfast at an extra charge but that is the only meal. The cafeteria has a fridge and a microwave in it.

If you make a reservation with the time your ferry arrives to the island the owners will pick you up from the ferry station and drive you to the hostel. Along the way they will point out the restaurants and connivance stores where you can buy your food. The owners do not speak English so it is a plus if you can speak/understand Japanese.

Every night there is an orientation for new arrivals. The owners will talk about the island, inform you of weather conditions, and outline different hikes/bike rides that you can do while you are visiting the island. The guests who have been on the island for a couple of days will chime in with different activities that they recommend. After the orientation is over everyone will sit around, talk, drink, and just enjoy hanging out. The hostel is every friendly.

The hostel is located in a beautiful spot over looking the ocean with a couple of cliffs surrounding it. If the weather nice everyone will walk up one of the cliffs to watch the sunset. They also rent out bikes for people who are interested in biking around the island.

The Green Hills Youth Hostel is affordable, friendly, and a great place to stay if you are planning to stay on the island for a couple of days.

The costs are:

Members \3360 yen

Visitors \3960 yen

Breakfast \630 yen

Dinner None
