Spirituality, peace and yoga Jul 28, 2013
Amazing place for tranquillity... other than being the yoga capital of the world, according serene views and some serious rafting on the Ganges river, and generally being a hub of things spiritual... but if it is peace and quiet that you are looking for, stay a little away from the hustle of the main part ... the Glasshouse (a Neemrana chain hotel) is great but a tad expensive... but if you want to go cheap, independent rooms in the New Swiss Bhandari Cottage or the Swiss Bhandari Cottage (or any of the cluster of cheapies up there on the other side, called High Bank, before you enter the main city when coming from Haridwar) come as low as USD 5 or so, with lovely cafes to boot, superb views, a backpacker crowd, and loads of peace and quiet ... a place I retreat to on an average of once a year for a few days or weeks to relax and write...
