Ripley´s Believe It or Not! museum Saint Augustine Reviews
The ultimate experience in shockingly odd and true stories Mar 17, 2010
The Ripley´s Believe It or Not! museum is really something different. Robert Leroy Ripley was born in California on the 25th of December 1890. He led an adventurous life and travel became his lifelong obsession. In 35 years he visited 201 countries. He was an artist, a reporter, an explorer and a collector. The stories he gathered would later appear in his popular cartoon feature Believe It of Not! Wherever he went he searched for the odd and unusual. From his journeys he brought back artifacts which form the heart of the greatest collection of oddities ever assembled. These artifacts can be seen in Ripley´s Believe It or Not! museums around the world.
I went to the one in St Augustine, Florida. In this museum you can see more than 800 exhibits of unusual, strange and weird oddities and curiosities. These are things like mice wine, odd animals, strange people, tribal artifacts and witches, vampires, ghosts & graveyards. If you get thirsty climbing the three floors, there are vending machines at the top floor where you can get refreshments before you start on your decent back down (which is no less exciting). After you have walked through a spinning tunnel you exit the museum through a large souvenir shop.
Ripley´s Entertainment operates 74 attractions in 13 different countries around the world. I can highly recommend Ripley´s Believe It or Not! museum. It´s fun, different, interesting as well as educational. It´s a great place to bring children, but they should be accompanied by an adult through some of the exhibits.
