Rio de Janeiro was the capital of Brazil until 1960. It is the main destination of travels to Brazil, and its fame (for tourists) is due to its unique beaches. There are three famous beaches namely Copacabana, Ipanema, and Bofog. A new neighborhood has also been formed on the other side of the city namely Barra. It also has a great beach far from hustle and bustle of Rio.

The famous Brazilian carnival has attracted a significant reputation for Rio de Janeiro. This festival which is held on January every year for two days, is one of the most famous events in the world, and many people go to Rio to attend this festival.

The most important tourist attractions (beside beaches) are Christ Status, Sugar Loaf, the Stadium, Lagoa Lake, etc. Moreover, there are many tours to favela to see the living of poor people. It has recently become popular among tourists due to the international fame of the movie City of God.

In addition to beaches, Rio has great jungles and gardens. An accessible place for tourists is Santa Tresa, a neighborhood not far from the beaches.
