Rio and You - Japanese and Sushi Restaurant Travel Reviews

Dec 13, 2007
Located right off Times Square in the heart of the theater district, this adorable family-run Japanese restaurant has both delicious food and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. They have a great sushi chef and a wide selection of fresh fish as well as great appetizers, entrees, noodles and more. I had an enormous dinner since I couldn't stop eating! My meal included:
-Pork Gyoza
-Rio and You Chicken -the restaurant's special fried chicken - tender and tasty with a subtle taste of lemon.
-An assortment of sushi, all great.
-Shabu-shabu with tons of vegetables, tofu and prime rib.
-Green tea ice cream (bitter and slightly sweet, like real green tea ice cream should be)
-Fresh fruit plate

It was so good that I went back the next day for lunch and had Kitsune Udon - a white noodle soup with tasty fried tofu. Their noodles were done perfectly and the broth was delicious.

Most items were $8-$15, pretty reasonable for the heart of NYC. They also had some lunch specials and various sushi packages.

To get there, walk west on 45th Street from Times square. Pass 8th Ave, and halfway down the block on the left (between 8th and 9th) is the restaurant!

Highly recommended for lunch or dinner if you are going to a show or just sightseeing in Times Square! And while you're there, make sure to chat with the owner's wife who roams the restaurant and ask about the origin of the restaurant's name... it's great!

We turned the corner and saw the fancy fine dining establishment,Osteria al Doge. Inside we found elegant settings and au...
