Rincon de la Vieja National Park Jan 23, 2009
I loved the Rincon de la Vieja National Park ! I headed up to Curubande specifically to visit this park. It is full of natural hot springs and sulfuric & thermal mud pools. Nice peaceful hike that wasn't too difficult. There are a few different waterfalls and streams, and monkeys in the trees. I wanted to do the hike up to the Volcano but it can take all day which I didn't think would be smart to do alone. Like all other National Parks in Costa Rica, it is closed on Mondays, and costs $10 for tourists. Also note that you must have a car to get to the park. Luckily for me I was able to get a ride with a sweet couple staying at the same lodge as I was.
giant tree
stinky sulfur
