Rihga Royal Hotel Hiroshima Reviews
Great views from the windows Apr 07, 2010
The Rihga Royal Hotel is located across from Hiroshima Castle and only a few blocks from the Peace Memorial Park and Museum.
The hotel is a high rise that offers incredible views from the rooms. We had two rooms on the 23rd floor - one faced the Hiroshima Castle, and the other faced Miyajima Island and the bay. One of the rooms was a corner room that had a wrap-around window on two sides and offered gorgeous views of the city lights at night.
The rooms were simple - one or two beds per room, a table, fridge and tv. Wi-fi was not free, so we didn't use it.
You need to store your room key in the slot by the door in order for the lights to work in the room.
The bathrooms were the best! The water pressure was high and the temperature warm. There were soap/shampoo dispensers in the shower. The toilets were fancy where you could adjust the temperature and pressure of the butt washer and the temperature of the seat. The mirror was equipped with a defogger so that when you stepped out of a hot shower, there was a clear rectangle in the mirrow. However, it was set for the shorter Japanese people and the clear spot in the mirrow nicely reflected my chest - not my face. Oh well, the concept was pretty cool.
The rooms had slippers and Yukatas (bathrobes). The closet even had a pants press.
The restaurants in the hotel are very expensive, however, the hotel is next to SOGO Department store that also has a bunch of restaurants. The upper floors have the restaurants, the middle floors are shopping and the bottom floor has grocery store. You can stop down here for liqour, snacks, and just about any food you might want.
We had to take a cab from the train station, but there was always a line of cabs at the hotel so we didn't have to wait to catch a cab back to the train station. The hotel is also a block from the streetcar line that runs through town and out to Miyajima Island. It is also within several blocks of many other restaurants. If you are lucky, you will be able to catch of peek of a wedding taking place in the chape.
This hotel has a good price and a very good location. It is recommended - unless you don't like heights ;)

All the basics, great location but don't go to their buffet Mar 15, 2008
Hiroshima probably is not high on the list of destinations in Japan, because it doesn't have any 5 star hotels. We picked this one because of the location and price (booked on Expedia). The hotel is a high rise and the lobby certainly looked like a good hotel, but the room is definitely plain and basic. We did have a view out of the window toward the restored Hiroshima castle.
Only about 1 km from the A-bomb dome and the memorial site, it is very convenient. We did have to take a taxi from the train station to the hotel, but buses do run to the hotel. Right next door to the hotel is a very large shopping center with the Sogo Department store. There were many restaurants in the shopping center complex, some right next to the hotel, you can get to without having to walk to the street. In the Sogo complex basement was a HUGE food street with so many vendors and foods that you just have to go and see for yourself.
We made the mistake of having a breakfast buffet at the hotel, not knowing other options were less than 1 block away. The buffet was EXPENSIVE, not a good variety and really a great disappointment. We have had great foods everywhere in Japan, except this meal was a letdown.
No free internet, we had to pay about $10 per day for accessing the internet.
The bathroom mirror had a heated center so that it did not fog up, which was the only one we saw on this trip!
So it's an OK hotel, with great location, just don't eat here.

Rihga Royal Hotel Hiroshima Overview
This is the newest hotel in Hiroshima which makes it very popular. The service is excellent and any clients staying at the hotel will enjoy their stay in Hiroshima here. A newly built shopping complex is just next door and the transport links in and around the city are easily accessible. Otherwise, stroll on foot to the major areas of interest. (1008YY)All of the rooms are spacious and very clean. The rooms have everything from pay-television to air climate control systems. They are light, bright equipped with a desk and dressing table with plenty of amentities. Some of the rooms have views of the Hiroshima Castle. This hotel is located in the center of the city. From the hotel, Shukkein Garden, Hiroshima Castle, Hiroshima Basaball Stadium and the Peace Memorial Park can all be accessed on foot within 10 minutes or less. Airport access is good as the airport shuttle stops at the Bus Centre which is located next to the hotel. The hotel has a number of restaurants to choose from including Japanese and western menus. It is suggested that clients sample the afternoon buffet on the top floor where they can get a great view of the the city or otherwise the bar with the night-time illuminations over the whole city area. As well as being one of the newest buildings in the city, the hotel is also one of the tallest buildings and can be seen quite easily from any part of the city. The lobby is very large in size, but very simple. There is a small seating area and plenty of room for checking in. There is a coffee lounge attached to the lobby, along with some boutiques for shopping.
