Rickshaw Inn Takayama Reviews
Rickshaw Inn Takayama May 19, 2010
Rickshaw Inn is located in the heart of Takayama close to the station, and just a block or so away from Takayama's Old Town district. This inn is conveniently located near many restaurants, souvenir shops and other must see sites that Takayama is known for.
I found this inn from Lonely Planet's Japan guide book, and it was one of the recommended places to stay, so I decided to check it out. The inn has Japanese and Western style rooms, and accommodates single and multiple travelers. I went with the single Japanese style room, and in the room was a futon bed, a small kotatsu table, small tv, towels, and yukata. The room also had a small walk-in toilet and sink. The shower/bathing area is located in the third floor of the inn. On the 2nd floor is a small lounge area with travel books, and a small kitchen. Overall the inn was very well kept and clean. It's not that big, but adds to that charm and homely feel as a result of its size. The staff spoke English, but I can't say if they were friendly or not because I didn't really talk to them that much, but supposedly they say they are very helpful, and will more than gladly store your luggage when you check out if you decide to explore Takayama some more before leaving.
Other amnemites included free internet if you have your own laptop, laundry washing machine and dryer service.
This is a really nice place to stay, I really liked the location and how close everything was to the sites and restaurants. I paid about 4100 yen for the low season rate when I went for a single traveler room, but it can cost double that if you're traveling in 2.
I would definitely recommend this inn for anyone not wanting to stay in a hostel, and are planning on staying overnight in Takayama.
