One of the main gateways to Triglav National Park, Ribcev Laz is a small town that sits on the eastern shore of Lake Bohinj (Bohinjsko Jezero). The town consists principally of a small number of hotels, restaurants, and other tourist services for the Park.
The town is mainly geared to the outdoor activities of the park, but there is also a fascinating old church (Church os St. John the Baptist) right off the lake to visit for a bit of cultural edification among your adventures. Enjoy hiking, boating, skiing (in season), or head off to conquer Mt. Triglav, the highest point in Slovenia, from this wonderful town.

Ride - Day 6, Zgorjne Jezersko, Slovenia to Ribcev Laz (Bohinj Jezero), Slovenia

The swoosh of car tires rushing through water was the first sound I noticed on waking up this Wed. morning. The second was the patter of rain against the window. I dragged myself from my bed to the window to notice a steady downpour was coming down with no sign of easing up in any direction. And there was a distinct chill in the alpine air.

Lake Bohinj
The lake is Slovenia’s largest nestled in a beautiful valley in the Julian Alps. The water is crystal clear and full of easily spotted fish and you can feel the freshness and cleanliness of the air. The lake is very peaceful with the only motorised boats allowed on it the electrically powered tourist boats linking Ribcev Laz at one end of the lake to Ukanc at the other end every half hour. The noisiest things on the lake are the ducks!
