Ribadesella Overview

Ribadesella is situated at the Cantabrian Sea on both sides of the river Sella mouth.

The touristy interesting old town with its quaint squares and buildings is located on the eastern bank of the river. It is dominated by the twin towered parish Church of Santa Maria Magdalena, whose history dates back to 1924. Other worth seeing buildings in the old town include the Gothic style Santa Ana Chapel and the 19th century Atalaya Tower.

One of the touristic highlights of Ribadesella is the picturesque Chapel of the Virgin de La Guia (Capilla de La Virgen de la Guia) which stands on top of the hill Monte Corberu. From here panoramic views of the town and the surroundig region with the Asturian mountains in the background can be enjoyed.

The western part of the town is dominated by an approximately 2 km long beach promenade along the Playa de Santa Marina. Here many modernist villas dating from the 19th and 20th century can be admired.
