Riad Dar Sofian Zagora Reviews
Affordable Luxury in Zagora Jan 05, 2014
It looked lovely on the website and the tariffs (eighty euros for double/twin room, 60 for single) looked very reasonable for the standard of the accommodation.
I very much hoped that it would live up to expectations as it had been booked as the treat of our holiday, a traditionally built raid-style hotel with a modern twist.
The outside was impressive, with well tended plants and an elaborate doorway complete with hand of Fatima brass knocker.
Inside was just as lovely, with tranquil modern pastel tones combined with antiques and beautiful mosaic decoration. The staff were welcoming and friendly, though the ability to be able to speak a bit of french or arabic would definatly be an advantage.
Our room was smart, modern and traditional in one, with its own balcony and sun loungers. Though we arrived late and had to leave early so loungers were decorative rather than useful.
The pool area was lovely and the gardens immaculately kept. We loved the traditional style lounging area with complete with hubba bubba pipe and friendly cat in residence.
The hotel also has its own desert camp which, for roughly 40 Euros per person you can visit on an overnight trek into the desert by camel. We took the tip and were the only visitors there, so we had our own exclusive camp site with three people to look after us.. an unexpected touch of the millionaire lifestyle.
