Ri Ra is a great place to go for a low-key night out. The bar is downtown, right on North Tryon. I've been there a few times and not once have I been disappointed. Drinks are priced reasonably (I think at one point we paid $12 for two glasses of cider) and the mixed drinks are worth their money when it comes to how "well" they're mixed (ie. you might need a little extra cranberry juice in that cranberry-vodka). It can be super packed or managable, depending on the night. It's always a great time though. They have live bands quite often, normally pretty good, and a really nice outdoor patio to sit and chat, drink, meet people, typical after dark activities. Floor's generally a bit sticky, but that's how you know it'll be a good time, right? :) Give it a try.
