Reuver Vacation Guide
Reuver is a small town in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is in between the cities of Venlo in the North and Roermond in the South, with the river Meuse in the West and Germany in the East. The town is located in the municipality of Beesel and has about 11,000 inhabitants.
The name of the town is probably derived from the 14th-15th century knight Johan de Rover. In the 16th century a tavern was located here on the crossroads of the major trading routes between Maastricht and Arnhem, and Cologne and Antwerp.
Reuver is geared towards tourism with the holiday park 'De Lommerbergen' and some farm campsites. The natural attractions include Meuse dunes and the Brachter forest, directly across the (open) border in Germany, and part of the Maas-Swalm-Nette cross-border park. Both offer biking and hiking opportunities, but be aware that anything elevating over 20m is considered a mountain here. Other attractions are Cactus World, 18-hole Golfodome and the historical villages of Beesel and Ronckenstein.

After visiting Bratislava and DevĂn, I crossed Austria again to return to Berchtesgaden. After all, Berchtesgaden had more to offer than a visit to the Obersalzberg. Saturday morning I climbed up Mount Jenner, enjoying the views of the Berchtesgadener Land for an hour. To reward my exercise, …
