Restaurante O GonÇalves Cascais Reviews
Good food and humour Mar 10, 1999
I'm sorry I can't remember how to find it but we did not find it very difficult - there were plenty of people to ask for the road.
We had left Lisbon that morning quite early and been fairly active in Sintra - with only a light picnic. We had then taken our time getting to Cascais so we wre starving - or so it felt.
This restaurant was very pleasant and friendly. What was perhaps even more important at the time, the portions were astronomically sized - and there was no question of any sacrifice in quality to achieve this.
The waiter seemed intrigued that I chose pork. Ian had chicken - once we had ascertained that it was a garlic and onion free zone. The waiter kept coming and saying that Ian's chicken was practically ready but that he would have to wait 'until they had caught my sea bass!' This was not in itself a particulerly hilarious joke but his way of telling it was very amusing indeed. he more than earned his tip.
