Restaurant Zazie Karibik - a voodoo experience Dusseldorf Reviews
Restaurant Zazie Karibik - a voodoo experience. Dec 06, 2010
Restaurant zazie karibik or simply "zazie" is a restaurant owned and operated by one of my friends in düsseldorf - zaneda.
zaneda has travelled and worked all over the world extensively - including a few years stint in the philippines, with her vast knowledge of her homeland - haiti and the creole cuisine, she decided to put up a restaurant in the borough of fligern-nord (which is the bohemian part) of düsseldorf.
the restaurant offers all the exotic dishes not only from haiti but the carribbean itself, the interior is dark but there's a sense and aura of mysticism in the place, with wood carvings and symbols of voodoo.
zaneda is a self confessed "vodouisant" - a practitioner of voodoo and a voodoo priestess herself. She prganises voodoo rituals in her restaurant which i attended.
the programm includes - a 3 course meal of haitian cuisine - which consists of bananas cooked in different variations, the fruits of the sea and meat and everyone's participation in a voodoo ceremonie.
all in all i gave this restaurant a 5 star rating, because zaneda gives personal touch and service to each and evry customers - unfortunately - in winter it is open only through telephone bookings but in the summer it is alive with tables outside and a beer garden.
*voodoo ceremonie is only either in german or in french*
