Just outside of Brussels in the village of Groot-Bijgaarden you can find the wonderful Restaurant Michel. The restaurant was this year rewarded with one Michelin star and 16/20 in the Gault & Millau.

First time I was there I could not believe that I was in the right place because I came from the wrong end of Alfons Gossetlaan which actually was an industrial area. So make sure that you come from the village of Groot-Bijgaarden, and then you will see that you are in the right spot immediately.

From outside it looks like any old villa in the village but when you enter the restaurant it changes in to a more contemporary look. First they guide you into a small lounge where you can have your aperó and afterwards you are guided into the restaurant itself. All over you have round nicely decorated tables with white cloths. The room has a funny purple boat looking section hanging down from the ceiling and this together with the brass pillars are the only things I don’t like about the place.

The food is fantastic, I don’t need to say more than what a Michelin star does and it is worthwhile to come and try this place. The service is very kind and discrete.
