Restaurant Les 5 Portes Geneva Reviews
Their food don’t compensate for eating in an empty restaurant Jun 30, 2014
N46°12.674' E6°8.897' The Five Doors – with indeed five doors – is a large and fashionable Pâquis port of call that embraces the whole gamut of eating and drinking. Expecting a crowded restaurant, we made reservations for a Saturday evening in June 2014. To our surprise we ended up in a completely empty restaurant for the whole evening.
We ordered whole sea bream with seasonal vegetables and scallops in soya sauce with seaweed on toast and mixed salad with pinot blanc wine. An empty restaurant makes you worry that maybe there is something wrong or missing. Yes, no guests, no atmosphere and probably a bored kitchen staff. This overshadowed to whole dining experience and influenced our judgement on the quality of the food presented.
Surgical dissecting the sea bream took its time and was done more out of nutritional than culinary value. It tasted nice, but not exceptional. The scallops were prepared nice and the toast with seaweed was a good combination. We were more impressed with the various cheeses as desert.
The food in Les 5 Portes did not compensate for eating in an empty restaurant.
