Restaurant Lekzicht Schoonhoven Reviews
nice place for a beer or light lunch Jul 22, 2012
For this restaurant, location is the most important aspect.
It is situated outside of the historic town of silversmiths, Schoonhoven, right next to the ferry over the Lek (Rhine) River. The view from the terrace is stunning, although behind the ferry on one side there is some sort fo a factory. The river is one of the busiest of the world for cargo inland transit and it is fascinating to watch all the container and bulk river ships and the many yachts in summer sail by.
On sunny summer days (like when we were there) it can be quite crowded and you may have to wait for a table outside.
It is a nice place for a simple lunch (a salad, soup, sandwich, croquettes, etc.
The food is not great (average and a bit above average for this kind of places), and not cheap either (also a bit above average). And still, it's a nice place for lunch. Not the place where you go to impress your new girlfriend, but more than OK to hang out for a while with friends and have a drink, something to eat and a god conversation.
Staff is friendly and helpful, but on busy days it is sort of funny that some of their staff is not allowed to take your orders, only to bring you the food and drink that you ordered.
All and all not a bad place, and all and all the weather was such that my glass of De Koninck was happily followed by another one...
