Restaurant Kolpinghaus Sundern Reviews
Beer and schnitzel Jul 21, 2010
After an exhausting afternoon of walking to the Sorpesee in Sundern, Germany, in the blistering sun (don't ask), we stumbled back into town starving.
The outside terrace of Restaurant Kolpinghaus on main street looked so inviting and the smells coming from the kitchen made us decide to have an early dinner.
We crashed in the comfy chairs and ordered a beer for starters, a nice Diebels Alt. The menu was quite extensive, with a definate Croatian touch, but we had already pretty much made up our mind of what we wanted.
Not to typecast or anything, but when in Germany, you need to have the schnitzel. So Isabelle ordered the Wienerschnitzel and I decided to be adventurous and ordered the zwiebelschnitzel.
The food was excellent and the service swift and extremely friendly. We got a decent slab of meat (not dribbling with fat like so often is the case), crispy fries and a nice refreshing salad.
I had another beer, this time trying the Maisels Weisse, and since it was such a nice evening and business was slow, had another one after that.
Together with the bill, which was very fair, we got a little schnaps, and then a bit unsteadily, made our way back to the hotel, feeling well fed and a bit light-headed.
