Restaurant Kanaco

It was our first night staying in Pereybère. We were eager to try real authentic food. At first we walked up and down the road and looked at the menus and weren't convinced as they had more western foods. My husband then decided to approach a taxi driver who happened to be there at the time to see if he could recommend any good restaurants. He recommended 'Kanaco'. Along the way ( 5 mins drive) he told us that everyone he has ever taken there really enjoyed it and kept going back. At first we thought he could be just saying that but we thought what the hell if we don't like it we wont go back.
We weren't disappointed !! Kanaco was great. A small family run restaurant with really tasty local food at a really good price. We loved it so much that we kept going back nearly every day.
On the first day the owner came to talk to us and afterwards said that he could cook us anything we wanted (which wasn't on the menu) the next time we came - we told him what type of food and he made suggestions. The Permall's were really friendly and warm and they gave us 2 engraved drinking glasses to take back home with us. They also invited us for our last meal there and said we didn't have to pay for it!!
I can't recommend this place enough - we will definitely go back there again should we ever go back to Mauritius.
