Restaurant El Taino Lares Reviews
Delicious Puerto Rican food in a traditional restaurant - El Taino Feb 06, 2009
If you are in Puerto Rico, you want to try the traditional food. When we visited the Camuy Caverns, the guide recommended us this place, which was also part of Francisco's plan. Well, thumbs up for it!
It's located near the Camuy Caverns, reason why it's visited by many tourists. But don't think this is a touristy trap. Of course it's oriented to serve the traditional food, but keeping all the flavors of it. You can notice the food is fresh and taste like home made. I tried the famous mofongo and according to Francisco this place serves one of the best ones.
Their whole menu is about Puerto Rican food with beef, pork, guinea (a kind of hen), chicken and of course seafood & fish. Plantains, yucas are also part of the menu. Don't ask for a soda, try a juice made with the local fruits. They are refreshing and tasty.
The atmosphere of the place is familiar and cozy. The business started years ago, just as a restaurant in a garage, but it grew so much that right now they even have a salon for 300 people you can rent for parties.
The portions are generous, so you might not have space for dessert but just in case you had (we did, hehe). Save room for the ice creams in Lares town, hehe.
Thumbs up for this restaurant and you should stop here if you are nearby or just want to try real and tasty Puerto Rican food :)
The staff is helpful, although they have a broken English, but the menu has pics, so worst scenario just point what you want to get, hehe.
Part of the 2nd Meet Up was my 1st time in the Caribbean - Puerto Rico, yay!! :) travel blog
