Restaurant De Koe Volendam Reviews
Dutch Dishes in Volendam Sep 28, 2014
De Koe (The Cow) has been serving in Volendam since 1922. It's an attractive restaurant with wood paneling and solid tables and chairs. The waitresses wear traditional Volendam dress. It is located right in the center of the visitor area, near the harbour.
The menu features a variety of sandwiches for lunch and set courses for dinner. Our dinner started with an appetizer of herring, salmon and shrimp. (The herring was cooked, though raw herring is a Dutch delicacy.) Vegetable soup followed with the main a Chicken Filet with potatoes. Dessert was Dutch Apple Pie (Appelgebak). All very good.
There was a taste of Dutch Jenever (from whence comes gin) before the meal. Wine with our meal.
Recommended as a quiet corner in which to dine in Volendam.
