Restaurant & Cafe Nytorv Copenhagen Reviews
Traditional Danish Lunch Jun 27, 2013
The quarter surrounding the Nytorv Square is filled with small bars, cafes and restaurants. Many of the restaurants have specialized in serving the traditional Danish lunch, where herring sandwiches and snaps are joined in a dangerous cocktail. Restaurant Nytorv have gone trough a lot of changes over the last many years and their homepage is actually referring to the old days when this place were frequented by prostitutes and drunks, which I actually find quite funny.
The restaurant has up-scaled the place since the “good old days”. The tables all have white tablecloths and in matches well the café interior inspired from French café interior. The food is traditional, mainly quite basic but that is also the point. The interior is quite nice, bringing you back some 70–80 years, but far away from the riff-raff. This is not one of my favorite lunch restaurants.
