Restaurant Barracuda - One of the most picturesque buildings in St. Julians, Malta. Wouldn't you like to dine there, too? :-)
Restaurant Barracuda - The balcony on which you are seated above the shore. Nice view below your feet, since the floor is made of glass but be sure not to drink to much!
Restaurant Barracuda - Inside everything also is just perfect

Beautiful setting, food no so great Jun 17, 2011
Most probably is one of the nicest restaurants in Malta, but for the price you pay I would not recommend it. Actually, there is a restaurant next to it that belongs to the same company that offers italian food, same location but less expensive.

The service, decoration, setting and food presentation is just perfect, but the food is not that tasty and very expensive. We had a couple of salads, a seafood platter and some creps for dessert. Everything came up to be 110€ for 3 people. Actually the best part of our meal was the wine! :) I had a bottle of Melqart Cab Merlot for 13 euros half a bottle.

Although I have to admit that the place was right perfect for a romantic dinner. What did not convince me was the food and the money you pay for it. Most probably one of the most expensive restaurants in Malta.

Before writing this review I read two more reviews thad had already been published in TB and I am quite socked with them. I usually go to the best restaurants and this one was quite dissapointing.

Exquisite Seafood in a Superb Luxury Restaurant above the Shore of the Mediterranean Sea Mar 21, 2009
My girl and me had decided to flee the long lasting winter and so we booked a weekend-trip to Malta in March 2009. After a sunny day of city exploring, we discovered the Barracuda Seafood Restaurant in Saint Julians, situated very near the Church of Our Lady of Mt Carmel. Already when we entered the imposing 18th century limestone building, which stands directly on the Promenade above the shore of the sea, we felt the warm, luxurious atmosphere of the Restaurant embracing us. Since we were one of the first guests that evening, we were lucky to be seated at a table on the winter garden-styled balcony. The clou there is the vitreous floor!!! You really enjoy the feeling of sitting above the shore of the sea with a nice aperitif (I had chosen Campari Orange) in hand, watching the waves beneath your feet!

The service is excellent, the garçon is ready to provide recommendations for seasonal specialties as well as for wine, just as you'd expect that in a classy restaurant like this.

As its name implies, the Barracuda Restaurant's cuisine leans keenly towards seafood options, especially Mediterranean fish and shellfish specialties (fresh Lobster, Octopus Carpaccio). You may also dine perfectly, enjoying meat dishes (Lamb Noisettes) or rich pasta instead. Desserts vary from a refreshing Iced Yogurt, to a homely Warm Apple and Walnut Strudel, to a showy Crepes Susette flamed at your table.

Prices are above normal Saint Julian level, but hey you are dining in one of Malta's top locations, where David Beckham, Madonna and Omar Sharif have tickled their taste buds :-)

So if you are going to spend an unforgetable evening with your big love, I really recommend dining at the Barracuda. The best time certainly is around sunset.
