Residenza Vespucci Florence Reviews
Like staying in a really nice house Jun 01, 2011
Location: This house reminds me of the old homes in San Francisco but with an elevator. Located right in front of the Arno River and a block or two away from Ponte Vecchio. There is plenty to see within walking distance. In general, I found Florence to be a city you can explore by walking with no problem. Had no issues walking in the area at night. I cannot tell you about buses because we walked everywhere.
Rooms: The rooms are spacious, very clean and the bathroom had a large bathtub. The place can be noisy if you open the windows –this place is located in a major intersection so lots of cars and pedestrians through out the day. I had no problems sleeping at night, and I am sensitive to noise. You have to close the windows. My only issue was the fact that there was no iron in the room. Don’t need a hair dryer just an iron!
Restaurant: This is a house so they have a traditional dining room. Breakfast time was between 8 and 10am, but “flexible” according to the staff. Guest came in at various times. You helped yourself to what they had set out: pastries, quiche, meats and cheeses, yogurt, juice and you ordered coffee from their chef. I am not sure if dinner was an option, only know breakfast was part of the deal.
Staff: Very friendly, warm and accommodating. Spoke English.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi. They have a computer in their lobby (living room) area that you can use. The rooms came with a free bottle of wine(hello!), sodas and tea. The rooms had an electric kettle as well. We drove from Venice to Florence so the owner arranged for someone to pick up the car and park it in a garage during the length of our stay. The garage we paid separately, but it was nice to just have someone deal with the car once we arrived.
Of the 3 places I stayed in Italy, Residenza Vespucci was my absolute favorite because the staff and location. This place felt like a good friend let me stayed in their really nice house. We met other guests during breakfast, but other than that never even noticed the other people staying in the house.
FYI, the Bed and Breakfast is a house so you have to ring the bell so they can let you in. Push the button that says Residenza Vespucci.

Residenza Vespucci Overview
Residenza Vespucci is located along Florence's riverside, on Lungarno Amerigo Vespucci, in an historical building which once housed the prestigious Hotel du Sud. With careful renovation, the owner Francesco Gallorano has transformed the property into a luxury bed & breakfast, paying attention to every small detail. The rooms have romantic views over the river Arno and onto the Ponte Vecchio (old bridge), one of the most beautiful and historic sights of the city. The location is ideal for any type of tourist trip or cultural visit given the very central position of the property and its proximity to the most important museums and monuments in Florence. Only 500m from the central rail station of Santa Maria Novella, Residenza Vespucci can be reached very easily.
