Residencial Tekena Inn Easter Island Reviews
Great Cheap Place to Stay!! Jan 07, 2010
Our stay at this Inn made all the difference to our holiday at Easter Island. We had left the accommodation we were staying at earlier as very unhappy customers and were even thinking of leaving the Island 2 days early because of it. We had asked a dairy owner where he recommended for us to stay at and he advised Tekena Inn.
It was easy to find and lucky for us that we had arrived on the day we did as the Inn had been fully booked with high school students that were leaving the day we strolled in. Fate I say!
The scene we saw when we arrived was all the students milling around and then hugging the owners (Elsa & Gonzalo) when they left! Very homely to the eye!
Elsa greeted us warmly and advised us of their prices, she showed us the room (it wasn´t cleaned at that moment as all the students had just left, but they had it done within 1\2hr). We noticed the place smelt fresh and clean a complete contrast to the accommodation we had just left!
The Inn was a good little setup! Everything was under cover which was good as it had rained for our entire stay on the Island. It was well secured with the entrance to the corridor for the rooms being locked at night. There was a little lounge area with couches, a coffee table, a tv (only 1 channel though) and a stereo. There are also a couple of maps stuck to the bences of Easter Island in the lounge for you to look over, very helpful! The decor of the Inn had beutiful wall carvings and island ornaments, it even had a mosaic foot path leading up to the rooms. It had alot of character!
Our beds were sooo comfy! The room was fresh, light and had a window which we could leave open as it had a fly screen. The shower was great, it had good water pressure and it was hot!
The kitchen was a little small and the fridge is not in the kitchen but located in the office area but I´m not sure why. There was plenty of plates, cups, cutlery and pots which Elsa helped me to locate. You can either eat your meals outside of the kitchen or in the dining room which is setup just opposite the kitchen.
You can also hang out your clothes on the clothes lines which are located in three places, just ask which one you can use as they also use them for the Inn laundry.
The rooms get cleaned everyday as well where they make the beds, sweep the floor, clean the bathroom and empty the toilets. Its almost like a hotel!
Another bonus is that its a child friendly place. While we were staying there, there was a couple with 2 littlies aged 3yrs and 8months. The Inn family members took turns holding the baby boy and playing with the little girl, very family orientated.
The Inn is a family orientated business. All the family members are lovely, helpful, and friendly. If you need anything just ask Elsa or any of the other Inn family members and they will be more than happy to help. We recommend this place highly for anyone who is looking for a place to stay at Easter Island. If we were ever to return back to Easter Island we would definitely stay here!
