Residence Inn Marriott Salt Lake City Reviews
Affordable lodging to the Greatest Snow on Earth Mar 09, 2011
This is my go to property whenever I'm in Salt Lake City (several times each snowboarding season).
The property is reasonably priced and if traveling with friends is down right cheap. While Sandy is down in the valley and you will not be staying slope side, most of the areas ski areas are just 30 minutes (45 to Park City) and very easy to get to. Salt Lake City has an amazing shuttle system so you can leave your car and ride the UTA up to the resorts. NOTE: On powder days, all the powder hounds will be heading to the slopes which means if you take the shuttle you will get there but it may take awhile. One guy told me recently he got on at 6am and didn't arrive until 11am. Its a cheap options but definitely not for everyone.
They offer a great breakfast daily and have a "Welcome Home" Happy Hour from 5-7 of heavy appetizers. If your budget is tight, this essentially means you have 2 meals covered daily.
Even though this is an intercontinental chain, the General Manager Jennifer makes the property feel more like a B&B. The staff are always extremely helpful and friendly.
If you're in SLC to ski or snowboard get your tickets at Canyon Sports, just two blocks away from the hotel. I've spent a lot of time looking and while most ski stores/snowboarding shops have discounts Canyon's pricing is the best. NOTE: If you have a Costco membership check out your local Costco, I've discovered for example Costco's in Los Angeles sell tickets to ski resorts in Utah…at a killer discount.
