Residence Diar Lemdina Hammamet Reviews
Diar Lemdina Aug 25, 2010
Positioned in the Medina of Yasmine Hammamet and basically spreading across the whole of that same Medina lies the Residence Diar Lemdina. It consists of appartments of various sizes and thus also prices.
We had one of the biggest appartments of the complex which consisted of two bedrooms, one with en suite bathroom, kitchen, living room, balcony and another bathroom. Everything was cleaned every(!) day and the service was excellent. A example: we used the laundry service of the hotel but got back the wrong clothes, immediately the hotel staff made some calls and before we knew we had our clothes back. The appartment was located near a large outdoor swimming pool, where everyday activities like aquagym and waterpolo were held. Due to the seperate airco in every room of the appartment it was always comfortable in there. Only disadvantage of this is you can get an cold rather quickly, due to temperature differences.
Tunisian people are very nice, friendly people who love children. Because we travelled with a little baby (my halfsister) we certainly noticed this. Some waiters in restaurants even went so far as walking in the medina and buying toys for my halfsister.
Only thing I didn't like was the location. The medina is nice the first time, but you quickly get annoyed by the shopowners trying to lure you into there shop. Yasmine Hammamet is also way to touristy for my taste, consisting mostly of 5 star hotels. Another thing is the WiFi internet, which is really expensive, costing 10 dinars, or 5 euro's, per hour!
The prices of the room are average for the area, not the most expensive and not the cheapest. I don't know the exact prices, but they vary between around 80 € to €220 (6 person appartment) per night including breakfast.
There are plenty of restaurants near where you can eat relatively cheap and good. Everything from tradtional Tunisian food like couscous to pizza to steak is available. In the harbour you can eat lots of delicious sea food.
The beach is around 5 minutes walking and the hotel has an private beach you can use, with plenty of beds and parasols. On the beach you can do things like parasailing, jet ski, banana boat, etc. for reasonable prices.
All in all it's an great place to stay with great people and excellent service if you don't mind something a bit more expensive and touristy.
Hope this helps.
