Repulse Bay Vacation Guide
Repulse Bay is a popular residential area, although its flats are expensive and rapid development over the past decade has destroyed much of its semi-rural charm.
Another feature is that the development is permeated by three "sky gardens", giving it a transparent feel. Through the sky garden openings, the sky and greenery beyond the development are gracefully blended with the sea view.
The site of the Repulse Bay Apartment Complex was the splendid colonial-style
Repulse Bay Hotel (opened in 1920 and demolished in 1982
In front of the apartment complex stands the Verandah Restaurant, which was
opened in 1986. It is a replica of the famous restaurant of the old Repulse Bay Hotel,
and is built on the original site of the hotel to commemorate its golden age. It is a
premier choice to spend a relaxing afternoon by enjoying English high tea by the
window.
In front of it stand a beach garden where you will find Chinese pavilions, moon gate and bow shaped bridge. There are two tall statues of Tin Hau, Goddess of the Sea and Kwun Yan, Goddess of Mercy to the Buddhist or Taoist followers, each of them is over 10m in height.
