Republic Monument May 31, 2017
If you find yourself at Taksim Square, on the way to Istiklal Street there is the Republic Monument.

It was built in 1928 by the Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica to commemorate the formation of the Turkish Republic in 1923. The circumference of the monument was completed by the architect Gulio Mongeri. It was designed perfectly for conducting ceremonies in front of it. The bronze figures of both sides are placed on an arched stone base, being inspired by the traditional architecture. One face of monument symbolizes the independence war, while the other face symbolizes the Republic period.
