Rennes is the captital of Bretagne (Brittany) in France. It's a university city, so there are many students studying in this city.
Although it's the tenth largest city in France, many people don't know about it. And that's a shame, because it has a lot to offer.
The old part of the city is a lovely place where every street and square, round every corner you are astonished by the architecture and beauty of the old medieval timbered houses and other buildings ingGothic, renaissance or classicist style.
Rennes is also a very good base for trips to both the north and the south of this part of Brittany e.g. Fougères, Mont St. Michel, Saint-Malo, Saint-Briac in the north and Quiberon, Carnac (menhirs), Vannes, Auray in the south.
