Renaissance Hotel Dubai

I have been to Dubai several times on business and I really enjoy staying at this hotel. Usually my first time in each city I let my agent book my sleeping accommodation then I book them moving forward. The Renaissance Hotel Dubai is not located in your typical 'tourist trap' area. It is located on the Southern side of the Dubai Creek in the Deira ara (locals). The hotel itself is a bit dated, but the beds are new. The staff was absolutely amazing. They catered to your beck and call and assisted you with everything. There is a restaurant on the lobby level which serves a buffet nightly. They offer cuisine from all parts of the world. Again, the staff is amazing. The room are you standard hotel room. The bathrooms are a bit larger than your average US hotel. I only stayed in a standard room once as I was upgraded each additional visit. The suites and one bedroom suites are tremendous. Again, they are a bit dated, but nice.

There is a small shopping mall about 100 yards down the road. A little further down the road is a much larger shopping center. Both of which are nice and offer a good number of eating outlets.

If you have a car this hotel is prime. It is rather affordable compared to the JW Marriott across the streets or the other hotels (Hilton, Sheraton, Crowne Plaza) in the tourist area/beach section. Cabs are always available 24 hours a day. The Gold Souk is a short cab ride away. I highly recommend you take a cab there even if you have a car. It is very crowded and parking can be a bugger. The only reason why I gave this hotel a four star in the 'Location' category is because it is not located in the tourist section. Jumeriah Beach and other touristy things are drive away.
